Through the generosity of many people over the years, the Apostolate is able to offer grants to parishes and organizations of the Diocese of Madison to support the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the life of the Church.
These funds are focused and restricted to the creation of programs, projects, and initiatives that will increase the accessibility of our diocese. The Apostolate wishes to support parishes who want to provide supportive services and/or create accessible facilities but are unable to cover all of the costs on their own. These efforts speak to the Gospel spirit that all are baptized persons are welcome and called to participate in the life of their Catholic parish, school, camp, or program. As of 2024, the grant program has awarded over $2 million to parishes and programs across the diocese since the program’s inception in 2013.
The Apostolate offers two additional specialized grants for parishes to aid in the creation, continuation, or improvement or parish ministries.
The St. Margaret of Castello Grant is a $500 grant for parishes to host a Disability Celebration/Sensory Friendly Mass, Sensory Friendly Adoration, and/or a community building/awareness event aimed at connecting persons with disabilities to other parishioners. Additional consideration should be given to what accommodations may be necessary for people to be able to more fully and actively participate and serve in the life of the parish.
