A permanent deacon is an ordained man who serves the Church in the world – in parishes, hospitals, prisons, and communities – by proclaiming the Gospel, assisting at Mass, witnessing marriages, baptizing, and serving the poor. Most permanent deacons are married and continue in their secular careers while serving God’s people.
If you have felt a stirring in your heart to serve the Church in a deeper way, the Diocese of Madison invites you to attend one of two upcoming inquiry meetings:
Saturday, April 18 | 9 a.m. to Noon: St. Clement Church, 135 S. Washington St., Lancaster
Saturday, April 25 | 9 a.m. to Noon: Holy Name Heights, 702 S. High Point Rd., Madison
Check-in begins at 8:40 a.m. Attendees will be provided with information about the life and ministry of a permanent deacon, along with the discernment and formation processes.
Wives are welcome to attend. Attendance at only one meeting is necessary. Please inform your pastor or parochial administrator that you plan to attend.
Registration is requested by Friday, April 10. Contact Melissa Ortiz at [email protected] or visit madisondiocese.org/diaconate. Include your wife’s name with your registration if she will accompany you.
