Photo ContestCatholic Cemeteries Week
Submit your best photo from a Catholic cemetery to help us celebrate Catholic Cemeteries Week, October 31 to November 6.
When: Photos must be taken before October 30, 2026. Submission Deadline is October 30. Submissions will be accepted starting October 1, 2026.Where: Any Catholic cemetery. There are two categories especially for cemeteries within the Diocese of Madison.
Who: Everyone is invited to submit their best shot. Current employees of the Diocese of Madison and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.
Prizes: Winning entries will be featured in the Catholic Herald, and the winners will be invited to a private dinner with Bishop Hying.

Photo Contest Rules

Each photographer may submit up to two entries.
Photos must feature a Catholic cemetery, be taken on or before October 30, 2026, and entered into one of three categories. The categories are:- Diocesan cemeteries (Beloit, Janesville, or Madison)
- Parish cemeteries (any other Catholic cemetery in the Diocese of Madison)
- Unrestricted (any Catholic cemetery anywhere)
Winning entries will be featured in the Catholic Herald, and the winners will be invited to join Bishop Hying in his private chapel for Mass followed by dinner.
All photos must be original work, taken by the entrants. No third party may own or control any materials the photo contains, and the photo must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person.- The photo must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame.
- Violators will be removed from the contest, stripped of any prize(s), and banned from entering future contests.
- Entries will not be accepted unless submitted via the official contest channel, https://madisondiocese.org/photocontest. Entries not submitted through the proper channel will be deleted.
- Entries will be judged by the Diocesan Cemetery Advisory Board. All decisions are final. The Diocese of Madison reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.
- By entering the contest, entrants agree that photos submitted can be used by the Diocese of Madison for advertising and promotional purposes.
- If any identifiable minors appear in the photo, parental permission in writing will be required prior to any award. Written permission may be sent to [email protected].
- Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses. The deadline for submission is October 30, 2026.
- Any prize must be collected by the winner and is nontransferable.
- The winner will be contacted via the email address provided during entry. If no response is received after three business days, a new winner will be selected and the previous winner will forfeit all rights to the prize.
- The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
The Diocese of Madison and no other organization is running this contest.
